Mark van der Gronden designed The Crates Cabinet Series as a simple design concept: a steel frame containing colored used crates.
The frame is welded from a cold-forged steel L extrusion. The drawers are guided by the same cold-forged steel extrusions and are blocked on the backside by the same cold-forged steel extrusions. The steel has its natural dark (from cold forging) color and is blank lacquered (avoids staining from the dark steel)
