The Couchette was designed by Friso Kramer for Auping and was sold during the 1960s. The Couchette comes in a black lacquered metal frame with teak sides. It has a removable back cushion so that the Couchette couch can easily be turned into a bed. Seat height 38cm.
Friso Kramer was a functionalist and all of his designs are well thought over and amazingly executed. The intense and time taking design process resulted in a great product with fantastic ergonomics. Friso Kramer's Revolt chair is often compared with Jean Prouve Standard chair shown in museums next to each other.
