Joep van Lieshout's design of the AVL Shaker furniture range is an homage to the so called 19th century Shakers in North Amerika. Their furniture got soon recougnized as excellent and timeless designs that in their simplicity were advanced in what in the 20th century was going to be called 'Modernism'

The AVL Shaker chair with its typical angle seat leaning to the back, is easy to combine with other pices of furniture in different configurations.
